Subscription, Trial & Cancellation Terms

Last updated: July 2026

Free Trial

New subscribers are eligible for a 7-day free trial. Your payment method is collected at signup, but you will not be charged during the trial period.

At the end of your 7-day trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the rate displayed at signup. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.

Free trial eligibility is limited to one trial per person. If you have previously subscribed to Townbrief, you may not be eligible for a free trial.

Recurring Billing

Townbrief subscriptions are automatically recurring. After your free trial (or immediately if no trial applies), you will be charged at the rate and billing interval (monthly or annual) you selected at checkout:

  • Per Town — $5/month or $50/year
  • Per County — $8/month or $80/year

You will continue to be charged at the start of each billing period until you cancel. Prices are subject to change; we will notify you of any price change before your next billing period.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings on your town’s Townbrief site. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will retain access until then.

During the free trial: If you cancel before your trial ends, your subscription will be cancelled immediately and you will not be charged.

After the trial: No partial refunds are issued for unused time in a billing period. Your access continues through the end of the period you have already paid for.

Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or payment details on our servers. Stripe may decline a charge or flag a payment for fraud review according to their own policies.

Failed Payments

If a payment fails (expired card, insufficient funds, etc.), Stripe will automatically retry the charge. If payment cannot be collected after retries, your subscription may be suspended or cancelled and access to paid content will be revoked until payment is resolved.
